Music Box

Here is a music and jewerly box I made for my daughter, Kate, as a gift.  The box is made of Quilted Maple with the top made of Leopardwood.  Inside, I used green flocking to give it a velvety feel.  That was a new ‘experience’, flocking can be quite messy.

The music box plays “The Wind Beneath My Wings”, which I find inspirational and, as I told Kate, the same inspiration that I get from both of our daughters.

Note the Cherry/Maple splines on the corners to add strength.

Here you can see the embedded magnets to hold the lid closed. Each magnet is covered with a small disk of Leopardwood.

Note the plunger activated by the lid opening to play the music.
